About Us

Clifton Hill Vintage Clothes & textiles, houses a vast collection of unique and beautiful textiles, clothing, accessories, haberdashery and much, much, more. The collection was acquired over a 30-year period by its founder Gillian Hodder, who opened the shop on Clifton Hill, Bristol, in the late 1970’s. Artist and Designer Jenny Ford took over the business in 2011, when Gillian sadly died. Jenny, along with several dedicated volunteers, undertook an extensive two-year project to clear and preserve as much of the existing stock as possible. Its current owner/custodian, Romy Lincoln, acquired the business and its remarkable collections, in August 2017 and continues to run the shop with as much love and passion as its previous owners. The business has recently relocated to Malvern in Worcestershire.
We are more than your average Vintage clothing shop! We have an area of the shop dedicated to study, research and reference. We invite you to sit on the quirky, pink velvet 1950’s sofa, look through the numerous reference and research books and magazines that we have available. Look through photographs, paperwork and press releases, whilst enjoying a cup of tea. We have several collections available to view which we are calling our “Living archive”. These mini archives house invaluable pieces donated to the shop and once belonged to Incredible, everyday women and men
Come along and see their once untold stories. The archive will continue to grow as we continue our preservation journey. We welcome any donations you may have, either for the archive or for shop stock.
